iPhone keeps restarting, this is confusing me… :-s?

Right, where to begin?… Basically I have an iPhone 3GS, I have had it for just over a year now and so far have been able to fix every problem that I have come across myself. I'm fairly competent with iPhones (can take it to bits and put it back together without problems, or fix pretty much any problem even with hardware). Within a week of me having it I jailbroke and unlocked it with the iPad baseband, and have had no problems with that whatsoever. After a couple of days of IOS 5.0.1 comming out I upgraded, preserving my baseband and repeated the jailbreak process with Redsn0w and installed Ultrasn0w to complete my unlock.
About a week or 2 ago my phone started draining the battery, and kept turning itself off and back on again. After testing the battery I decided to replace it with a high-capacity one since I use my phone quite a bit and decided it would make my battery life go a little further if nothing else. At first the phone wouldn't switch back on so I opened it up again, took it all to bits, and put it back together again making sure everything was all good and plugged in properly, also changed the position of a few bits (theres this weird metal thing by the camera I think its like an earth-strap basically as it attaches to the metal band around the phone, and theres also some odd little gold metal thing close to where the battery touches the motherboard I just bent that out so it touches the metal band once again as I can remember thats how it was when I opened it). Anyway the phone came back on however changing the battery only seemed to make it worse. With my old battery, after a couple days of it restarting, it seemed to sort of fix itself, it was happening less and less but now its happening every like 30 seconds (give or take) the same as when the problem started occuring.
I did a little research on apples useless support pages and forums, but all just say restore the phone, or that it's a problem with IOS 5.0.1 so i decided to kill 2 birds with one stone, I restored and updated the phone, preserving the baseband but that hasnt helped either. So i'm kind of stuck now, i'm open to try anything at the minute because I really need my phone working again I use it for everything. Listening to music, emails, facebook, satnav, basically everything. So what so you recommend? Any links to pages that might be useful? I'm going to keep searching around but if someone comments with something that works i'll give them the best answer even if I did it before they said it.

The problem is with the update that you done. Ultrasn0w and Redsn0w cannot cope with the latest baseband as they have not yet fully developed a custom firmware with the latest iPhone firmware. They assure you on their blogs that you shouldnt try to upgrade with A custom firmware pre-installed on the phone. This leads onto the iPhone thinking that it's an iPad and will currently take on more electricity and power from the battery as you made it think to think like it's much bigger device. The only option is to connect the iPhone with a computer and reset the whole phone from there. You may also need to go into DFU mode at some point. YouTube may also help you into doing that. be careful into doing this *** all photos, videos, contacts etc.. May be deleted.
