I dropped my iphone down the toilet! :(?
Samuel Asked: I dropped my iphone down the toilet!
?
I recently dropped my iphone down the toilet! (it was just water) I know there are a lot of questions about this already but Ive read so many mixed answers I dont know what to believe, Also every question seems to be slightly different cirumstances to my problem, I dropped in the in toilet. It was imeresed for maybe a second! i removed it immediately and had it under the hand dryer for some time. after turning it on and off, It came up with no sim card inserted. Dried it furter, Turned it back on, it worked fine, all functions, all parts of the screen perfect, no water damage light. I am fully aware I shouldnt have done that but I wasnt thinking! it was very low on battery anyway so inevitibly ran out. I tried to turn it on this morning and the only way I got it on was using an 10W ipad charger. It claimed to have 100% battery, if I remove the charger, it just powered off instantly. It also read on the screen (activation required) Connect to itunes. its now in my airing cuboard drying for the next few days.
What are my options?
Since water damage is always variable, no one ever puts a price on it! has anyone had this similar problem?
Does any know the cost of say replacing one component and the cost of replacing all of them?
I know if I go to an apple authorised retailers, I am going to get 65 assesment charge plus the potential cost on top?
Is it worth just giving up and buying a second hand one on ebay for around 275?
Basically im just looking for the most economical solution?
Answers:
borrow a battery and see what happens with any luck you,ll just have to replace it rather than whole thing.
Is the phone under warranty?I know the warranty doesn't cover water damage, but if neither of the water damage indicators has turned red (and you don't tell them about it), then it didn't suffer water damage as far as Apple is concerned.Just make sure that you let it try thoroughly before taking it in.
First off never put in under or on a heater. put it in the fridge the dry air in the fridge helps to get rid of water. for how long depends on how much water got inside. Your better off trying the fridge if that doesnt help itbuy a good second hand one. or buy the galaxy s2 which can survive waterloads of it
Sometimes if the apple store employees are nice and you just say I droppe it in water and you have a warrantee they might fix it
